Business owners and captive insurance service providers joined together in Stamford with the Connecticut Captive Insurance Association and the Connecticut Insurance Department for the 2017 Collaborative on Captive Insurance to engage and learn about this important -- and growing -- industry.

The 2018 CCIA Collaborative was uniquely suited to Hartford and was again about innovation and collaboration. We had sessions and speakers showcasing how Hartford has become a thriving ecosystem of insurance innovation, and how CCIA is taking part in that. And the Collaborative featured the captive industry’s first-ever “Cap-a-thon”! It was an intentional, design-sprint event in which over 50 business leaders, contributors and cyber subject matter experts collaborated in industry-focused teams to develop innovative ideas on how certain industries' companies can use captives to solve emerging cyber risk issues. It was a great success, having received rave reviews!

Our Mission

The CCIA, a nonprofit trade association, was created concurrent with the passage in 2011 of Connecticut's new captive insurance law which established parity with most popular captive domiciles in the United States. The mission of the CCIA is:

To promote the interests of the captive insurance industry

To provide a communication interface for members and other groups

To establish policy positions on major issues that affect its members

To represent the interests of the captive insurance industry before federal, state and local government bodies

To provide its members with opportunities for education
